Spring Breakout Bash - Jon's Roast and Toast

Now that your Miata is ready for the 2010 driving season after Spring Tech Day, come celebrate Jon Weinberg's 60th birthday (the Roast) and his last season as Activities Director (the Toast).

Join us at 10:00AM on the beautiful Harvard University campus to view the world famous Glass Flowers exhibit at the Harvard Museum of Natural History. The glass flowers are amazing - exquitively crafted and look completely life-like.

The admission to the museum is free on Sunday mornings. Private off-street parking will be provided (courtesy of Celia Raia) for a maximum of 25 cars. Parking details will be provided to attendees after registering for this ride.

After viewing the flowers we'll walk for 5-10 minutes to Harvard Square for a group lunch at John Harvard's Brewhouse where we will be dining in a reserved room that seats a maximum of 50 people. The cost for lunch will be $20 (includes tax and tip, payable at the restaurant) and your menu choices (at the restaurant) will be:

  • Soup or salad
  • Choice of entree:
    • Chicken and Sausage Pasta - sweet Italian sausage with broccoli and diced tomatoes
    • Portabello Mushroom Salad - grilled mushrooms over mixed greens with lentils, hummus, feta cheese, olives, artichokes, and pita bread
    • Grilled Meatloaf with mashed potatoes, gravy, asparagus, crispy onions
  • Birthday cake and ice cream
After lunch we'll work off the ice cream and cake by taking a special guided walking tour of Hahvahd. Bring $10 per person and good walking shoes. The tour will end near where we parked our cars.

A caravan for members coming from the I495 area will be leaving from the Marlboro Holiday Inn at I495 exit 24 (route 20 east towards Marlborough) at 8:50 AM for a scenic backroads ride to the museum. Please let Lyn know in your RSVP if you will be joining the caravan or just meeting the group at the parking area in Cambridge.

Attendance is limited by parking and restaurant accomodations to the first 50 people and 25 cars. Signup early but no later than April 5th by sending email or calling Lyn Weinberg.
