On Saturday night, a Mega Yankee Swap will
be held in the hotel All-Star lounge area (ie. cash bar). If you've
never watched or participated in a New England Yankee Swap you are
in for a real treat!
Participation is voluntary (it's fun to watch even if you're not participating) however the more
definitely the merrier, especially with the number of people that will be attending FFNE.
To join in the fun each Miata (not person) should bring a wrapped gift in the $5-$10 range. Gifts can be:
- a humorous joke gift (or not)
- bizarre (or not)
- useful (or not)
- automotive (or not)
- a present you received and want to "re-gift"
- something unique to your club or area of the country
To select a gift you must bring one.
Here's how our Fall for New England Yankee Swap will work.
- All wrapped gifts will be counted to determine the number of slips to put into the hat.
- One person per Miata that brought a wrapped present draws a slip for their car's number
- After all numbers have been drawn the persons/car who drew #1 selects and then opens a present
- The persons/car with the next highest number (2 in this case) chooses and opens a wrapped present. They then decide whether they want to keep the present they just opened or swap it for any other opened presentt
- Lather, rinse, repeat step 4 until all numbers have been used and all presents have been openedd
- Finally, the persons/car who drew #1 (and had nobody to swap with) gets
the final swap of the present they are holding for any other presentt
The only other rules are:
- When choosing presents you are not allowed to fold, spindle, mutilate, or otherwise fondle the presents before opening one.
- You cannot hide your opened present that you might want keep (to prevent others from swapping with you). All opened presents must be openly displayed.
At the end of the swap consenting
adults are free to swap their present with anyone else.
So plan on bringing a present, having a few drinks, and enjoying the fun! Updated information will posted here
as it becomes available.
